The French people have a tendency to consume a fair amount of cheese, butter, bread and red wine. They maintain lower levels of cardiovascular issues as a nation and don’t have the weight gain problems we have in the U.S.

A study back in 1992 showed the consumption of wine in moderate amounts reduced the risk of heart attack by 40%. As a result of this and other research, red wine resveratrol has become viewed as having wine health benefits.
Recently, a group of French researchers took a look at wine drinkers for other factors that may contribute to heart health. Among the men who drank a moderate amount of wine per day. ( 2 -3 glasses) They found characteristics of lower cardiovascular disease, lower body mass index, heart rate, triglycerides, blood sugar, stress and depression, higher respiratory function, and physical activity.
Among women the characteristics were lower risk of cardiovascular disease, smaller waist circumference and lower values for blood pressure, triglycerides and LDL (bad) cholesterol.
Moderate drinkers of both sexes had optimal levels of HDL cholesterol. (good)
So again who knows. How to I feel? I try to eat healthy foods, pay attention to my weight, stay active, take resveratrol supplements and enjoy a couple glasses of wine just in case the wine health benefits of red wine is the secret.
